The stage production and performance of Charumati, a historical drama, was a great success. The play was designed in a grand manner and was impeccably executed. The cast was diverse.Keshav Sthapit was seen in the role of Samrat Ashoka, Aruna Karki played the role of Ashoka’s queen while Keki Adhikari played the role of Charumati. Similarly, other actors were Rajkumar Pudasaini, Bholaraj Sapkota, Subash Thapa, Deshbhakta Khanal, Puskar Gurung. The play was designed and directed by Bimal Subedi.
The play had a grand opening, a historical moment in the history of Nepali theatre. Rt. Honourable the-then President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav inaugurated the show amongst other guests like H.E. Ranjit Rae, the Ambassador of India to Nepal.
Apart from that, politicians, diplomats, army chief, media and corporate personalities also attended the event. The play was well appreciated and was covered by almost all major media houses in Kathmandu.
