Hamlet in Nepal

William Shakespeare’s Hamlet in Nepali at Theatre Village, Kathmandu was regular performed from 7 April, the play was staged last on May 7, 2016.

Co-directed by Bimal Subedi and Gregory Thompson from the UK, it was first presented in Bhaktapur Durbar Square, one of the most prominent heritage sites of Nepal. It is the result of a project developed by the British Council to mark 200 years of bilateral relations between Britain and Nepal and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

A not-for-profit organization based in Kathmandu, Theatre Village Nepal aims to redefine the world of Nepali theatre. It has been doing so by exploring theatre, and its history while also working on ways to improve art aesthetics from the root of Nepali culture to the digital world, being inclusive.
